Generally if you can get the photographs and text to us quickly and there are not too many changes, design of the site will take approximately 7 - 14 days.

Your prototype sites will be designed from the time we receive your deposit and registration form and all necessary information. You then review the prototypes. We incorporate your changes and additional material. Following your approval and final payment, the site goes live, we register your site on the Search engines and provide marketing tips.

blue arrow Can I use my own photographs and text on the site?
 
Absolutely! We prefer photographs to be sent electronically when commencing your site design. However, they are often too large to send by email. A good alternative is to have them copied on to CDs. Many photographic developing companies will do this as part of the photo processing process.

Photographs can also be sent by mail with a stamped, addressed envelope for return.

Many of our clients use a professional photographer to ensure they get the best possible result and portray a professional image.

Over 13 years experience designing and marketing web sites has provided us with invaluable information on what works and what doesn't.

We ensure that the site is designed to use the most effective layout and to ensure it is "search-engine friendly". We register the finished site on the Search engines. You can check the number of visitors to your site with Site statistics.

We also provide ongoing free Link updates to your Links page using Links provided by you. You can arrange with other websites to link to your site in return. This is now the most effective way of being seen on the Web.

On completion of the site, we will provide you with free marketing tips to ensure your site continues to be seen.

blue arrow What is a POP3 mailbox?
 
POP3 Mailboxes are storage accounts for mail on our mail servers.
Emails sit in the mailbox until you retrieve them with your email program or with Webmail.
You will need to setup up your email program to connect to our mail server and retrieve the email.

blue arrow How do I setup Outlook to fetch mail from my Actionweb POP3 mailbox?
 
If you are hosting with Action Web Design we can provide you with a POP3 mailbox on our server. You can then setup your email client (eg Outlook Express or Eudora) to send and receive email.
  Follow these steps to set up your new email account:
 
1. Create a new account. (in your email client eg in Outlook Express or Eudora)
2. The incoming mail POP server is pop.domain.tld where domain.tld is your domain name. As an alternative, you can use pop3.webhost.co.nz
3. The outgoing mail SMTP server should be set to your ISP's SMTP server. e.g. smtp.ihug.co.nz or smtp.xtra.co.nz
(You can check the other email accounts you have setup to see what the correct address is for your ISP's SMTP server)
4. Enter the User name that Actionweb supplied you.
5. Enter the password that Actionweb supplied you.
 
You will now be able to send and receive email using this account.
Alternatively you can view mail in your POP3 mailbox using Webmail and the username and password supplied by Action Web Design

blue arrow What is Webmail?
 
If you are hosting with Action Web Design we can set up a POP3 mailbox for your email. You can then use Webmail to view the contents of the POP3 mailbox from anyone's computer.
  We will supply you with a Username and Password to access email sent to this address:
 
1. Go to www.actionweb.co.nz
2. Go to the bottom of the screen until you see the heading WEBMAIL.
3. Click on WEBMAIL
4. Enter the Username and Password that Actionweb supplied you.
5. A list of your email appears
 
Webmail allows you to send mail, and view/manage your incoming email from anyone's computer. It is great for overseas travellers or if you are using a friend's computer.

blue arrow How can I prevent spam?
 

Yes it is a pest and it can clog up your mailbox. Spam is unasked for email- usually advertising everything from cheap holidays to personal products. Nothing will get rid of it permanently but we recommend two tricks that will reduce spam.

Method 1. Ensure humans are filling the forms on your website.

Spam robots (spambots) trawl the Net and harvest email addresses from websites. To ensure humans are completing yourweb forms we strongy recommend that visitors enter a 'captcha' code before submitting the form. We find this will usually cut down spam by about 90%.

Method 2. Use Mailwasher email checker - FREE

We have been using this for years and it is great. The most satisfyng part is blacklisting continual spammers and bouncing their spam right back at them!

This is an easy and effective method to manage incoming emails. You can quickly identify junk mail on the server and delete it or bounce it back to the sender. You don't even have to download it to your computer. We always run Mailwasher before opening our email program. This is a free version. The latest ones cost.

blue arrow What's a UDAI?
 
The UDAI is the key which gives you authorisation to transfer the name.

For .nz transfers only you will need the Domain's UDAI, which you will be able to obtain from the current registrar.

For all other Domains (.com .net .etc.) please forward the email address you used when registering the name. You wil be sent an email requesting authorisation of the transfer
